  1. Can I trade Online US stocks?

    Online US stocks trading is only available for non US residents / citizens and non Canadian residents. If there are any changes to your personal information, please contact our customer services at (852) 3583-3388。

  2. If I already have an offline US stocks trading account, do I need to fill in the W8BEN form again?

    Yes, even you have an offline US stocks trading account, you are required to fill in and submit two W8BEN forms.

  3. Which types of orders are available?

    We provide the most common orders like Market orders, limit order and stop orders.

  4. I have placed a Limit order. The stock was done at the set price, however, my order was not executed, how come?

    This is mostly due to Bid- Ask spread. You may have placed a sell order and the set price you saw was the ask bid price of the buyer or vice versa, you may have placed a buy order and the set price was the ask price of seller. In that case your order will not be executed.

  5. I have traded the same stocks for more than once in the same day. Do I need to pay commission each time?

    We will freeze 120% of the amount needed for your market order in order to make sure the order can still be executed at volatile markets. If the orders are placed when market is closed, system will use last closing price as reference.

  6. I have traded the same stocks for more than once in the same day. Do I need to pay commission each time?

    Yes, commission is calculated separated for each transaction. It will also be re-calculated if you have amended your orders.

  7. What are the terms for IPO companies?

    Normally we do not accept market orders for IPO stocks.. On the first day, system will only accept Limit order. This is to avoid our clients from paying more than necessary due to the high fluctuation of stock price on the first day. When you want to buy a particular IPO stock, you can send your orders using limit order to specify the highest buy price you are willing to give. You must also have sufficient fund to settle all related costs before you can purchase any IPO stocks.

  8. Why can't I buy stocks ending with [F]?

    Stocks ending in [F] are Foreign issued stocks. Our system does not support these stocks at the moment. Only stocks listed on NYSE、NASDAQ and AMEX are available.

  9. If the stocks I hold were transferred to OTC, how can I settle them?

    If the stock is transferred to OTC, you can still close the position with the online trading system. However, you cannot open a new position of the OTC stocks.

  10. Can I transfer the stocks in my offline account to my online account?

    Since the online and offline accounts are independent in terms of : order execution, account balance and stock position. If you would like to transfer your stocks from your offline to online account, 1-week lead time will be needed. Meanwhile, your stocks will be withheld and cannot be used for trading. Please contact your AE or our customer service for more information.

  11. Does Online US stock trading support before/after market trades?

    No, it is not supported

  12. Is Margin financing available for online US stock trading?

    It is not available at the moment.

  13. Will the commission be eligible for Wealth Points scheme?

    Yes. Your commission in USD will first be changed to HKD. Every HKD1 = 1 Wealth Point

  14. Do I need specific browser for US stocks trading platform?

    We would recommend your to use IE 6,7 or 8. In specific, IE 6 will need the below setting

  15. Why can’t I start my X-Stream system?

    Please make sure that the popup windows blocker is turned off and please do not close the pop up window (as shown below).

  16. Some buttons on X-Stream is not activated, how come?

    X-Stream was developed by outsourced software vendors, therefore we have blocked some buttons that would not be applicable to Taifook clients

  17. What is the Exchange User Agreements (Electronic Version) for first time login to US stock platform?

    Exchange User Agreements (Electronic Version) is an agreement regarding the quotations. Clients must read through and presses “Agree” before they log on to the US stock trading platform to access to the real time quotes.
    To comply with US regulations, client is also required to check the personal details in My Info and contact his account executive for any information is incorrectly stated or missing.
